1 American Sheetings
An enormous trade is done by the American manufacturers in plain cloths termed "Sheetings", such as 34/5 fin., 80 yards, 64 X 64, 16/26, 29/30-lb. There is little variation in quality. They are used for sheets when bleached, but also for window blinds, bags, shirts, dress goods, draperies, when dyed or printed. The weave is plain so the cloth is not a true sheeting. The cloth described as "Americans" is also known under this style, but it is not correct, as a sheeting is a twill cloth and very much wider. Chiefly Brazilian and Peruvian. These cottons rank third in quality among those used in large quantities, following after Sea Islands and Egyptian.
